"the fact that each task takes “its time”, or in other words the time we need to be satisfied with its result is a theme we find every day in architecture.
to ensure both the accuracy and the quality of a solution, the need to “loose” time to achieve an idea is felt right from those early days as a student. sometimes this time is twice the time we initially thought we were going to need. “if you think it will take you 2 hours, it is preferable to count on 4″ was often an essential advice. in fact, even the “almost done” regularly turns into “a lot of” work time.
an example of this may be that (only) today we finished the pavilion staircase design that we “thought” we could conclude yesterday, or that some work we wanted to “close” today stayed “incomplete” until monday."

one’s ability to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary
is most of all a matter of open-minded.
the more detached from the bustling world outside,
the more open you are to see beyond the ordinary and to prolong the span
of the ephemeral world of the extraordinary.

considering these,
we tried to brake off the barriers of a limited and still shop.
we were looking to create a place that has enough force to induce a free state of mind,
a tranquility feeling as the starting point for one’s permeability to new experiences
by transforming a bounded space into an unlimited one
and pushing the perception finiteness over its limits.

we create a space
that uses floating-ice pieces as key elements:
ephemeral bodies in essence, reflecting and refracting the light,
they outline an interior scape that recalls the landscape of a frozen lake in its melting point.
the walls that embody the space are lit from behind
and engraved with a fog like effect,
thus erasing themselves and giving unlimited depth to the space.

a very slow motion is imprinted to the icy elements,
which are used as exhibit bases for clothes,
through magnetic movement:
the bases of the element have a metal sheet insertion,
which allows them to be moved by magnets placed under the floor.
that movement introduces time as the fourth dimension:
the shopscape is constantly changing,
and the pace is that of a dream world.

the adimensional and atemporary place we created
changes the common shopping routine of absent-minded picking of clothes from a pile of anonymus items
by its capacity to fully involving you, your senses and your mind,
making you aware of the experience as a whole: shopspace, clothes, and yourself.

shopping becomes more and more a common action.
the shop space is almost unnoticeable for most of the times.
the clothes themselves lost their magic power of “speaking” to us.
the daily routine blunts our sensibility.

to wake up our senses,
more implication and some mystery is needed.

we were looking to create a place
that doesn’t give itself to you from the first glance,
a place that invites you to experience it,
a place that draws your attention, that sharpens your senses
and among which, a dress is not just a dress,
but that dress.

we draw our inspiration
from an ordinary item of the garment industry that has the power
to reinvent itself over and over again: the ribbon.
In the garment industry, the ribbon made its way over the centuries,
becoming one of the most common items.

upon its basic use for binding and tying,
it is also an accessory that makes you stand out of the crowd.
It has the power to change an ordinary outfit into one with attitude,
and by extension, it makes you feel special.
But what’s happening
if such a tiny thing was scaled up to a new dimension,
what if it grew from centimeters to meters?

what if,
from a chic clothes accessory, the ribbon became that magic thing
that put the space into being in a new and unexpected way?

we propose a shopping space that explores the ribbon personality,
as well as its natural way of folding.

a sheer and fluid space
that seems to flow along its own limits
was cut out
with a very simple gesture.

opened and closed in the same time,
folded and unfolded, the space reinvents itself in every loop.
openings on the lower level allow people to walk freely and discover the shop
which gradually reveals itself.
the loops divide the place but keep its integrity in the same time.
one walking through the created spaces can see the similarities but perceive the subtle differences
in the light, in the opening, in the roundness.

along with the scaling up process a role reversal took place: the clothes became the accessories for the ribbon,
and the ribbon becomes the “outfit”.
by the way of exhibition, we explore this inversion to enrich the clothes
as well as the space.

I was thinking about our “marketability,” and impressed by the ease with which my peers incorporate Greeniness into their practice. I pondered on how to develop an attitude towards this irrefutable big issue that calls to be addressed. Should the word “sustainability” jump off our webpages? Should we get certificated by a brand that peddles stamps of approval? Should we become angry?'
